Saturday, April 28,
A massive thanks to all at Tottenham today
Salut!
I am lost for words after the incredible reception I received
on my return to Tottenham on Saturday.
The reaction of the fans when I stepped on to the White Hart
Lane pitch for the first time since my move to Aston Villa
was simply overwhelming - it touched my heart.
The Tottenham supporters are beautiful people, I love them
all. I had fans coming up to me with gifts, such as bottles
of Champagne, because they were so happy to see me again.
Members of the staff at White Hart Lane cried when they saw
me, and I have to admit there was a tear in my eye too.
The only disappointment was that I never got the chance to
play a significant role in the match.
It was incredibly frustrating for me to have been denied the
chance to start the game.
It hurt that I was given only 10 minutes to play in front
of those adoring fans - both from Spurs and Villa - but of
course I never question the decision of the manager, and he
did what he felt was right for the team.
It was great to see so many old friends again, and I just
want to say a massive thank-you to everyone at Tottenham,
the staff and the supporters for the welcome they gave me
and my family - words cannot adequately describe how I felt.
I hope to see you all again very soon.
A bientôt
David Ginola.
