Monday, July 2, St. Tropez and Sunshine

Salut!

This week's article is a bit late, but hey, better late than never! Now that I am back on terra firma, I can communicate.

Well, last weekend as I said in my previous article, I participated in the Sainte-Maxime beach soccer tournament, where the weather was absolutely scorching, and the football was fantastic. People came en masse to support us, and the stadium was packed.

It was quite an experience for me to play alongside Robert Pires, Fabien Barthez, Pascal Nouma and Eric Roy, to name but a few of the French players. It was also exciting to play against the Italians such as Inzaghi, Galante and Cannavaro, with whom I felt a great affiliation.

The football was very competitive and of a high standard, although playing on sand is a bit of a challenge. All the players were sweating buckets, as the heat was so intense. The atmosphere was riveting, as we played to the sound of Samba and drums. It was à la Brézilienne. Great fun!

In the evening Coraline and I received our family and friends on the boat to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We took lots of pictures! Coraline had designed a marvellous cake, complete with fireworks and everything! Great company and music, lots of fresh food and plenty to drink, made it for us a night to remember.

The boat was moored in St. Tropez, and we had quite a gathering of spectators taking pictures. As morning drew close, slowly the guests left, and the crew sailed us on towards Sardinina.

A bientôt,

David Ginola.
