A measure of our success here at Aston Villa came this week with an award double. The gaffer John Gregory was named Manager of the Month, while striker Juan Pablo Angel got the award for Player of the Month.

It is not that often both awards go to the same club, so it is a great achievement for both of them. I am delighted especially for Juan Pablo. He did not have the best of times when he first arrived in England, and things were not helped by family problems.

But he has settled down and has been banging in the goals with regularity both in the Premiership and during our brief spell in Europe.

The gaffer has steered the team into the top few places in the league, so things are looking good. We have a chance to consolidate our position this weekend against Everton.

Sam Allardyce's team made a flying start to their life in the Premiership after coming up via the play-offs, and they were the early season leaders.

However, the pace has caught up with them and they have been pegged back in recent weeks, so we can go into this game in confident mood and hope to impress our fans with another home win.
