Happy Easter!
Salut!
I have not been involved with the first team this week, but
everything is fine between me and the new gaffer David Moyes.
My absence is simply because I have picked up a slight calf
strain, and I hope to be back in action next week.
The club is buzzing again since the new manager arrived, and
everyone is confident we can pull away from the relegation
zone in the remaining few weeks of the season.
These are important times for football clubs outside the Premiership
following the breakdown of the Football League's broadcast
rights contract with ITV Digital.
The league are in dispute with ITV Digital owners Carlton
and Granada following the company's entrance into administration
on Wednesday, and the likely non-payment of £180million they
are contracted to shell out to clubs for the live transmission
of matches.
The league has scheduled a meeting for all its clubs on Tuesday
in order to update them, and all I can say is that everyone
in the game hopes the matter will be resolved favourably,
so that clubs do not end up going out of business.
There were some interesting results in the midweek friendly
internationals, none more so that France's 5-0 win over Scotland.
It looks like my national colleagues are warming up nicely
to defend their trophy in this summer's World Cup finals in
Korea and Japan.
My final thought is to Robert Pires. The Arsenal striker has
been in sensational form this season, and it was terrible
to hear that a knee injury is set to rule him out of the finals.
I believe he is still hoping to avoid an operation, which
would mean he can still make it, so fingers crossed it is
not as bad an injury as was first feared.
Happy Easter!
David Ginola.
