Friday, May 3, FA Cup
final
Salut!
This of course is one of the most important weekends in the
entire football season - the FA Cup final. It promises to
be a fantastic game between two exciting London rivals, Arsenal
and Chelsea.
Arsenal will be hoping to clinch the first half of a "double"
and follow it up by gaining a point against Manchester United
at Old Trafford on Wednesday to be crowned Premiership champions.
I had a long chat with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger on Thursday
night at the Football Writers Association annual dinner, and
I can tell you that he is in good spirits.
his year's Footballer of the Year - the trophy I won in 1999
- is Robert Pires. Sadly he could not be there in person as
he is in France recovering from knee surgery, but Arsene collected
the award on his behalf.
If Arsenal lose at Old Trafford next week, they will need
to avoid defeat by Everton in the final game of the season,
at Highbury, so we may yet have a say in who wins the title.
My contract is up at the end of the season and I am looking
forward to settling down in the summer and considering all
my options with my close friend and agent, Chantal Stanley.
Don't worry, as always you will be the first to know where
I shall be playing my football next season.
Finally, you will see that I am launching my own shop on the
website, so I hope you'll take a look.
A bientôt,
David Ginola.
