Friday, April 4, French
Films
Salut!
I was in London on Wednesday for the Carte Noire French Film
Festival which runs from 2nd April until 16th April at the
Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Square, where they will
be screening a wonderful selection of French films, including
The Big Blue, Amelie, Delicatessen and Leon.
I went to the opening night and watched Pot Luck which is
directed by Cedric Klapisch and stars Audrey Tatou, Romain
Duris and Cecile De France. It was a funny film! Afterwards
I gave an interview to Channel 4's Rise, which you may have
seen yesterday.
Before that I gave an interview to Radio 4's 'Word of Mouth'
about the vocabulary of English football and how you quickly
become familiar with it. Like calling the coach 'gaffer'!
I also did an interview for an exhibition which will be staged
this summer by the Guardian and the Voluntary Services Overseas
charity about cultures connecting. I spoke about my time in
Angola and Cambodia for the Red Cross' anti-landmine campaign
'Walk Without Fear'. Despite the awful heartache these people
have endured, their joy and pride in their culture was moving,
and something I could identify with as a Frenchman.
Speaking of which, look out for an interview this Sunday in
the Mail on Sunday's 'You' magazine, which is an interview
I gave about the comparisons/differences between the English
and French cultures.
Also - well done England for the 2-0 victory over Turkey!
And what a debut for Wayne Rooney.
Have a good weekend!
A bientôt,
David Ginola.
